Ken & Ian
I ran into our high school coach today, and he shared that the High
School attendees really enjoyed your camp. Consensus was that "it
was the best they'd ever been to". Coach was equally impressed and
thought taking a group to summer camp was an excellent opportunity.
The youth club kids, parents, and board members thought camp was
"EXCELLENT" too. One 7th grader said "I can't wait to go to summer
camp. I learned so much from Mr. Chertow and he's so funny too".
We appreciate your willingness to trek all the way to little Milton
to bring your/staff expertise to the families of Wisconsin.
Getting 10 of our little guys to join our HS team at summer camp is
not going to be a problem at all!
Much respect and appreciation to an "awesome" and exceptional group
of individuals who are building the future face of wrestling
champions!

PS: I will be ordering the full DVD set for the Youth/High School
Library.
Coach Chertow,
Austin Manhart came home tonight and he is on cloud 9. He is
pumped and motivated. Your camp is wonderful. He had a great time
and learned so much in just 2 days. He has fallen in love with
wrestling all over again. Thank you so much for allowing him to
come to your camp and doing what you do. If it wasn't for you, I
don't think that wrestling would be the sport that it is today.
I am so thankful that wrestling has you.
Vickie Manhart
Ken,
We sure did appreciate you working with our kids. You have a gift
for working them hard and having fun with them.
We hope we to host your camp again next year. Thanks again for
coming down.

I met Ken and Ian at the Weekend Warrior event in Nashville. The only thing that I can say is WOW!! Everyone was super nice and I learned so much in a very short time. My guys are in for such a training upgrade!!!
Our opponents will be in for a surprise this year. We've been taken for granted, mostly because I have been learning what to do. Thanks to you and your products, now I know!!! I have already watched the Coaches Clinic DVD 3 times and I am about to start my fourth. This is exactly what I have been looking for.
Thanks again for everything!!

Thank you so much for a great start of the wrestling season. The Coldwater camp was a great camp. Both my boys had a great time, they both had excellent workout partners, and learned a great deal in just a short time. Thanks again to all the Chertow Staff.
Mike Brew
Ken,
Thank- you, We had a great time! We heard only positive feed back. You had a great group of coaches, and the kids loved it!
We look forward to next year, as it can only get better!!!
Thanks again & keep in touch.
Ron & Cheryl
Ken,
Nicholas really enjoyed this weekend’s camp. He worked hard and learned a lot. He was also won the tournament. Well worth the trip.
Thanks again from Nicholas, he really enjoyed training with you this weekend and will definitely be back for some more Chertow Training. Keep us posted.
George R. Anderson
Ken and Ian,
Thanks for all the hard work you put into camp last weekend. All our kids learned a lot from our less experienced to our most experienced. The experience gained from wrestling with QUALITY kids from other schools is simply invaluable.
Thanks for providing the technique books. We used them in study sessions Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday on the bus on our way home. Some of our kids even brought them to practice yesterday and used them after practice to go over and work on what they had learned at camp. Seeing that, without me telling them to bring their books with them and study them, I am convinced they are an investment that will pay of now and all season long.
I haven't had a chance to review your Coaches Clinic DVD yet, but I have no doubt that it too will be a great investment. Thanks again for all you've done for out team/club this summer and fall. Hope to see you during the season.
Ralph
Ken,
Thanks for coming to Long Island. I am trying to send my sons to winter camp too.
If my kids never win but have your positive attitude they will be winners in life.
Irwin
Ken,
Thanks again for bringing your Weekend Warrior Camp to Charlotte this past weekend. The camp was a tremendous asset to my athletes in preparing for the upcoming season. Both Andrey Brener and Bob Patnesky were outstanding clinicians and a great complement to the sessions you conducted personally on Friday and Saturday. We are very fortunate to have experienced a great weekend camp so close to home.
I also enjoyed spending time with you and the Finkbeiners on Friday night. It was also neat to watch the 1984 Dapper Dan matches with two guys who wrestled in the event.
Mark Harris
Ken,
Thanks for coming to Long Island. It was great to watch you in action and see the level of enthusiasm you have for the sport of wrestling. I was very impressed with how you related to kids of all different ages and levels of experience. From the least to the most experienced, form the youngest little dudes to the HS seniors, you coached and pushed each kid according to their ability. Its easy to understand why the kids respect and admire you.
We plan on seeing you again at Unadilla Valley and will try to get others from the Island to join us for the trip. Be well.
Steve
THANK YOU for all that you did for my sons the past two weekends at camp. Michael really enjoyed wrestling you. They will definitely be back at upcoming camps.
Thanks again,
The Klemans
Ken,
I would like to work at this camp and bring my son Adam along. Both Adam and I enjoyed your camp and we want to continue the experience through his future National Championships. Your Michigan Camp provided what we were looking for.
Thanks.

The season went great. All three of our sons qualified for the State tournament! Sam (8th grade) and Joe (4th grade) won their weight/age groups for State folkstyle. Sam also won State freestyle.
What they learned at your summer camps and Camp of Champs (especially in regards to drilling & practicing hard) helped a great deal. They are also getting excellent grades in school-which I also appreciate you preaching on.
Regards, Roy Umlauf
Hi Ken,
Our Season is going great, and we are on our way to winning another state title this year. We beat Apple Valley, MN, who is ranked 21st in the nation. Our team is hitting a lot of techniques from camp. Things are good L-C.
Bob
Note from Ken: Bob Berceau works on our Wisconsin Gold Medal Summer Camp Staff and hosts our Camp of Champs at his school in November.
Ken,
Connor won Beast of East… Thank you for all the help you have given Connor and I hope to see you soon.
Please give my regards also to Ian and Sara.
John McDonald
Editors Note: Connor McDonald has been attending our camp annually since he was 7 year old. He was Cadet National Champion as an 8th grader.
Ken,
Thank you again for the wonderful opportunity you afforded me to assist last week at your Camp of Champs. Your staff was very helpful. Coach Tolbert and his wife in particular were especially hospitable, making their home feel like my home.
I was amazed at the skill level of your young campers. Their ability to chain wrestle struck me as being well above the level of many high schoolers that I work with. They were very fluid in all three positions, and easily changed from one move to the next.
I also was able to glean many skill drills and nuances from the moves that you demonstrated and will be able to take this information back to my wrestlers. It is my sincere hope that I will be able to come home and "spread the word" about your camps. We have a long way to go to create a great program. However, I believe that when we are able to put a strong, consistent, feeder program in place, we will be able to compete with the top programs in the coming years. I truly believe that your camp system is a necessary component of our goals, and we'll be sending our wrestlers your way.
Once again, thank you. I look forward to working with you in the future.
G. N. Janes
Dear Mr. Chertow,
Thanks for your help. I realized after I went to your camp the first time how much they help both in training style and technique. I have never learned so much about wrestling in one camp.
I am now applying to Northwestern and some other tough schools. I have been afforded a number of opportunities not usually available to high school teenagers, so I hope this will help me. This summer I worked at Northwestern as part of a Howard Hughes Medical Institute study in genomics. I also helped in two research studies on the status of prescription medication usage and affordability. Recently, Governor Mitch Daniels has spoken about using the web site I helped design to solve Indiana's health care problems.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Mark Graves
Ken
Our team and I had a great experience at camp. Thank you for everything this weekend. The host family was very nice, and the set up at Eastwood was awesome.
On the ride home we talked about how much we gained in attitude and technique over the weekend. Our guys saw a level of wrestling from the other guys at camp that showed them how much they have to learn, and how much better they can be. My 112 pounder got throtled at camp, but came back to the room and has been drilling like a superstar.
I hope to bring a larger group next fall and to summer camp.
Thanks again for a great weekend.
Nate Lynch
Hello Ken,
My son Anthony Tutolo attended your Camp of Champs at Penn State [Ken Chertow] Thanksgiving weekend.
He learned some tilts and much more and got ready for the hard part of the season. We wanted to thank you for the experience. Anthony went on to take first place at the Ohio Grade School State Tournament. We thought it might be nice to let you know you can add another State Champion to your list of champs who have attended your camps.
Thanks for helping with a great season!
Mike Tutolo
Ian and Ken,
After seeing some of your wrestlers at the national meets we decided to give your camp a try.
We came from Utah to your Camp of Champs at Penn State over the Thanksgiving weekend. We were treated extremely well.
My son Brady left your camp with a great understanding of how to wrestle, as well as how to make that work translate over to the classroom and life. Your talks are more than just how to wrestle! I am proud to have taken my son to work with you and your staff. We are looking forward to seeing you this summer in Lakewood, Colorado.
Brady had a great year making it to the finals match in our JR. High State
tournament. He also carries a 3.925 PA!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Brad Nicholes

Dear Ken:
I would like to thank you again for the great camp that you put on. I hope that some day you will come back.Thank you so much for the generous contribution to our kids club. I hope to use that money to help send some of our youngsters to your camp this summer.
Thank you again for everything.

Mr. Chertow:
We're writing to say thank you! Your camp program is amazing and encouraging. What a blessing you, your family and staff are.
We attended the camp in November at State College. We signed up 3 of our 4 sons to attend your camp. Our 4th son was taking a year off from wrestling because last season he had a "bad' year. We decided to let him have the time off but asked him to come to the camp for some family time. While he was watching the camp, you asked him if he would be a partner since there was an odd man out. He agreed and ended up wrestling the entire weekend with a bloody nose. We were afraid that he would definitely not wrestle the coming season. However, good news. He liked your camp and was so motivated by your talks that he decided to wrestle. His attitude about wrestling has changed completely. He knows how to focus, how to prepare to meet his goals and he is on honor roll in school. So far this season he has taken 3 first places and 2 very respectable 2nd places. We are very proud of him. His
attitude on and off the mat is remarkable.
Our other boys enjoyed your camp and we have seen a remarkable change in all of their attitudes about wrestling. They have all done very well this season.
To tell you how much and in how many ways attending your camp has helped our boys would take pages. We're glad we were referred to your camp! Thanks again. May God bless you and your continued efforts!
Jim and Steph Hendrickson

Ken,
Chad Fyffe and John Phillips of the Franklin County have improved greatly since last season and a big part of that improvement was due to their time spent learning and training at your wrestling camp.
Thank you,
John Fyffe
Ken,
We were successful and won the dual meet. I appreciate your thoughts and input. Thanks for helping me help my guys.
Coach Steve West

Ken,
Jacob is wrestling for the State College Junior High team. Yes his training with your program helped him achieve his GOAL.
He made the starting line-up despite his limited experience. GREAT JOB KEN!!! Thank you for your instruction and inspiration.
He plans to be at Winter Break Training Camp.
AGAIN, thank you for the TRAINING!

Thank you so much for your help. I know your time is valuable and do appreciate your timely reply. I sent a young man to your
Super Gold 3-week intensive camp. He is one of the hardest working guys on my team and is a great leader for us. I know it was a very valuable experience for him.

P.S. Thanks for all you do to make wrestling better.
Coach Chertow,
Thank you for the perparation you gave me physically and mentally. Your book was awesome. I read some of those pages before workouts and it just gets me going. Pages 12 and 13 are some of my favorites. I have some of the key passages highlighted and in a different color I have highlighted every time it says "State Champion" because that is my ultimate goal. I will be back next year to your camp and hopefully I can attend the Super Gold this time. I speak for my whole team when saying that your camp helped us tremendously. We returned home from your camp and showed Coach Harmon some of our new techniques that we acquired from camp and he has been showing them in practice.
Thanks again,
Ben Lampkins 125 lbs.

Ken,
I'd like to have a wear and gear catalog sent to me when you get a chance please.
I would also like to take a minute and tell you about your camp at the Hudson Valley Challenge. I attended the Friday night session and then worked the tournament all day Sunday. The clinician you had Friday night was a very good instructor. He had a great way of relating to the kids and when he had to he refocused them in a very effective manner. He was very knowledgeable of the sport, which is to be expected, but he had some very unique training methods that I am sure most of the kids in the room have not seen previously. I have attended many clinics in my time and this individual really came across as well as any that I have seen.
I believe his name was Jonathan Johnson.
I am a lifelong wrestling fan as well as an executive board member for the Friends of Section 9 Wrestling. Hopefully our paths will cross again in the near future and we will have a chance to talk about the sport we both love so greatly.
Thank you again for a fantastic clinic, camp and for helping us run our tournament.
Yours in Wrestling,
Tim Monahan
Ken,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the great camp at Eastwood this past weekend. You and your staff was fantastic. The Eastwood coaches again were top notch as well. After hearing you speak, I wish that I had sent Brad to you before this. Brad, the one legged wonder, loved this camp. He said that it was alot of hard work, but it will pay off in the future. The Intensity theme is perfect for him. He refuses to make excuses or take the easy way out. As the season approaches, this was the perfect time for this type of refresher.
By the way, Brad just got his grades for the first 9-week grading period. He got a 4.0 GPA taking pre college courses. We agree with the slogan, "Be a student athlete, not a dumb jock."
Thank you for a great experience.
Respectfully,
Gregg Heinrichs, proud father of Brad Heinrichs (1/2 the legs but twice the heart)
Ken,
Thanks for 2 great Camp of Champs this month! Dusty hit a beautiful near side pick on the VA state champion in the semi
finals of the Super 32. It was just like you showed and told us Cael does. Dusty beat a Iowa state champ in the finals.
We have been working on some new attacks since your camp in at Penn State.
Sincerly,
Scott Goins
Editors Note: Coach Goins' East Gaston HS Team has won the last two NC State Championships, and he is the Head Coach of NC Junior National Team. He brought his most dedicated kids to our Camp of Champs in Chapel Hill, PA and State College, PA on consecutive weekends. Scott has attended our summer camps with his team many times!
Ken,
I want to thank you for signing and giving my grandson a poster at the Hudson Valley challenge. He is a seven year old who started wrestling last year, and your show of interest cannot do anything but help him in the pursuit of his goals.
Thanks for the interest.
Yours in wrestling,

Hey Ken!
Once again, I want to thank you for sharing your weekend with us. You really are an inspiration to our kids. They listen to what you have to say......they admire you. Thank you for taking the time to not only teach wrestling but also the importance of good grades.
I felt that the weekend was AWESOME!! Everything went smooth. John and Charlie were great with the kids too. John gave quite a motivational speech. They kept it fun for most kids along with some great wrestling instruction. Who could ask for more!?
I heard nothing but good comments about the weekend. Hopefully this will generate more interest in camps to come.
Winter Camp is not too far away-seriously thinking about that.
Hope to see you soon!
Jenn
My son graduated high school in 2003 and is now a freshman in college. He did have a wonderful year his senior year going undefeated until the end when he competed for a bearth at the State Championships. He battled his way to earn a bearth, however broke his ankle and was eliminated. It didn't matter.....he accomplished what he had set out to do.....One have a great season, 2 wrestle Dustin Schlatter from Graham, and three make it to State.
I think that some of his drive and confidence came from attending your camp in West Virginia. What I admire about your camps compared to the others that he attended that you not only focus on technique & skill, but the whole wrestler. Body, Mind and Soul.
Thank you for everything and keep on doing what you do best. Training great athletes.
Ken,
It was great to see you at the Ultimate Club. I received a lot of very positive feedback from the kids.
Rick Dellagatta wanted to me to pass along his appreciation. We hope you can do more clinics at our club in the future.
Paul
Dear Ken,
Thank you for holding that clinic last Monday at Torah Academy in Teaneck, NJ. We met and I told you that I am starting a wrestling program at a Yeshiva high school called Kushner in NJ. I have been wrestling and coaching for 9 years and I don’t consider myself the greatest wrestler. I enjoy and appreciate the sport for the life long lessons it has taught me. One day my dream would be that every child has an opprotunity to learn the sport of wrestling. I have a few heroes in my life and up until now my parents and coach Neil Ellman have always been heroes for me. Ken Chertow is now a hero for me not just because you are one of the greatest American Wrestlers, but also because you are a tremendous role model for our young Jewish Wrestlers.
Thank You, Coach Elior Shiloh
Ken,
Stephen took 1st at the AAU Grand Nationals for Freestyle in VA beach, VA. This is a direct refelction on your camps. You will definitely be seeing us this fall & winter camps. Also for years to come.
Thanks again.

Thank you for the excellent coaching at your West Virginia clinic. Shane and Nathan really enjoyed the clinic and also are very proud to have your autograph on their wrestling shoes. Nathan used the cement job, which he learned from you at Sissonville, to turn around his match in the quarterfinals at the Junior State championships. He went on to win second place. We are all looking forward to your camp in Charleston!
Best regards, Shawn and Cindy Daly
Ken,
It was an honor to meet you and we enjoyed your clinic last week. Your passion for wrestling comes out when instructing the kids. I'm the father of Noah, the little 3 year old that you meet when he came off the mats. He will be 4 in June. He loves to wrestle. I receive your newsletter and thought that would be a good introduction for him. That was the first time he had even seen a wrestling mat. I just wanted to spark his interest and it worked. He talks about it non-stop now. He is extremely smart and strong for his age. I took him to the WV High school states and he enjoyed the excitement. Watching Matt Easter win the 4th was awesome. It's nice to see some one from the Kanawha Valley get a college scholarship for wrestling and IVY league education. I know you have helped him for a long time. Look forward letting you teach Noah when he is older and ready. Just wanted let you know how we enjoyed ourselves and I enjoy viewing your website. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Ralph and Noah Workman
Ken,
Our students, parents, and coaches really enjoyed your technique, enthusiasm, and overall performance. Everyone is already asking about next years clinic. Thanks Ken.
Shannyn J. Gillespie Evanston, Illinois Black Kats Wrestling Club Director
Ken
I want to thank you for everything you did at the clinic. I thought it was a huge success. I heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone. We all appreciate the work you put forward for our youth. It is people like you that will make these future champions the future leaders of our community and country. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to working with you again in the near further.
Todd Eppert Indiana USA Wrestling, ISWA Tournament Director
Ken,
Just a short not to again thank you for allowing Andrew to attend camp this past week. Andrew had a great time and learned a great deal. More importantly, I believe he gained a lot of confidence. Also, thanks for the great talks from not only you, but several of the clinicians. Bruce Baumgartner, John Fritz and other shared stories of how they had to struggle at times as well. We also took Brad Pataky out for lunch one day. Brad also told Andrew how much he struggled when he first started wrestling. I believe all these stories were just as important as any move Andrew may have learned throughout the week. Again, many thanks for putting together a great camp with some outstanding clinicians and allowing Andrew to participate. I hope you will be able to stop by and meet our kids when we come to State College soon and perhaps give them a short pep talk as well.
Thanks Bart Freidenberg Ohio Tournament of Champions Director
Ken,
You ran a Great Camp! I've heard great things from most everyone who attended. Our parents are already talking ideas for camp fund raisers and which week to attend this summer. Coach, thanks so much for taking your time to come to our state. I really can't thank you enough. You've really helped my son so much, and now our parents know why their sons' want to go harder attend your and camp.
Thanks, Herman
Ken
Your Camp of Champs at Hopewell went great and we want to host it again next year. We are planning some fundraisers to send more kids to your camp this summer. We were so excited that you got to come to our school and put on a camp. Thanks again for exposing our kids to such a first-class camp!!
Peggy
Ken
Thanks for the e-mail. It means a lot! Your right, he does get great grades (4.0 and valedictorian of his 6th grade graduation class last Spring-----he studies very hard!). I was very impressed with Coach Boardwine and the University Prep School, and we are discussing U.S. as a future option. Kyle definately wants to attend your weekend Camp of Champs at U.S. next month, so we'll see you again then. As always, your clinic was top notch----we both love the intensity and work ethic you convey!
Thanks, Iain Gilchrist (Father)
Ken,
Thank you for the great weekend camp! Anthony gets so much out of your camps that we will continue to attend whenever possible. It is well worth the 7 hour drive. He enjoys the workouts and still has fun. Your words of encouragement to him are great. It builds his confidence! Thanks for everything
Jon Valles
Ken,
Thanks for a great camp! The instruction was great and the host of coaches was awesome! Brandon says he learned, I did as well. I was able to get some great footage to use in our practices and I appreciate you letting us do some taping. I will start promoting the idea of bringing a group to your summer camp in Iowa. Ken, thanks again and I hope to see you next summer.
Bruce E. Bocian Business Manager, Enterprise Accounts
KEN,
Thanks again for the awesome camp. By far the best staff we have ever had. The kids responded great to you. Plus Hughes, Eiter, Goldman, Hinkel, Pablo, etc. Just incredible! I hope the parents and wrestlers appreiciate it. We recruited Jonny August from Wisconsin to your Summer Camps. He told me that was the best experience he ever had.
Mark
Dear Ken,
It was great to meet you in person. I am glad I could stay for the weekend. Your camp was impressive. It did Derek a lot of good and was well worth the long plane ride. Thank you for recommending Derek for and talking to Coach Buxton about a post graduate year at Blair Academy. Thanks for Coach Buxton's phone #. I apreciate it and will follow up.
Thank you. Carl Lopez
Coach Chertow,
I would like to let you know what an impact it was for my son Mike to attend your recent camp. Your work with him, the personalized instruction and motivation you gave him was invaluable. Mike has won one dual match with a pin, 3 pins in a quad match, and last > weekend won a 16 team double elimination tournament in the 275 lb. weight class, with 3 pins and a 10-1 decision. I cannot say enough good things about your camp. You worked his butt off, but that's what he needed. His confidence and motivation is a direct result of that camp. Thanks for a wonderful experience! I wish we had been able to hook him up with you sooner.
Don Reid
Ken,
Thanks for a great Camp of Champs in Charlotte. The overall camp was well-run. Hats off to Ian Assael and Larry Sprecher for their work in this regard. A special thanks goes to Mr. Fletcher of Charlotte Latin for the use of the best wrestling facility my son has ever seen. Special thanks goes to Larry and Ian for their work teaching and relating to the kids. My son enjoyed what was taught and has already included some of the moves into his 'style'. Again, thanks to these two who really made the camp experience a class-act and worth-while. I also want to thank Mark Puckett for his fine teaching and contribution to making the camp worthwhile. Moreover, Gil Sanchez's Nutrition presentation and handout was very meaningful. Gil's handout will provide my son with alot of meaningful thoughts over his wrestling career. Ken, in short these guys did an outstanding job making the Camp of Champs a success this past weekend. On behalf of kids, thanks to them for their fine efforts.
